6 Days Aberdares Nakuru Masai Mara

Aberdare is steeped forested ravines and open moorland that provides a rich habitat for elephants, black rhinos, leopards, spotted hyenas, baboons, colobus monkeys, and many other wildlife. Lake Nakuru is a bird lover’s dream. Here you will find over 400 species of birds, over 500 species of plants, and more than 50 species of mammals. Masai Mara is the most popular park in Kenya as it contains all of the big 5 (lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo, and leopard) and it is home to the great wildebeest migration.

Itinerary

Day 1:

Our professional safari driver will pick you up from the airport or hotel in Nairobi and bring you to your safari briefing.  After this short introduction you will be on your way. From Nairobi you will enjoy a scenic drive providing breathtaking views of the Kenyan landscape. Along the way you will stop at the town of Mai Mahiu for lunch.

After lunch you will continue on to Aberdare National Park. You will arrive at the Ark Tree Lodge, located in the forest on mountain slopes of the Aberdare Mountains at 7,000 feet. This outstanding lodge offers high altitude game viewing, including animals that are rarely encountered elsewhere. Wildlife can be observed from different levels – and from outside where you can see, hear and smell everything.

The lodge is an experience not to be missed as you can get very close to the animals from the safety of the balcony. You will enjoy an authentic African dinner before heading to bed. But note, you can request to be awakened during the night if your favorite animal comes to visit.

Day 2:

While you are enjoying a full breakfast on the balcony, you can watch for rare sightings of the Giant Forest hog, bongo, golden cat, serval cat, African wild cat, African civet cat, and the blue duiker. In addition, the lake is a central gathering spot for more than 50 types of mammals so be sure to have your camera ready. Before leaving Lake Nakuru you will be able to enjoy a picnic lunch in a secluded area of the park.

Evening is a great time to spot these animals as they are out eating their diner before it gets dark and they retreat to the safety of their habitat.
